Lake Davis Fishing Report May 31, 2013
Continuing the "spring fling" and top notch trout fishing here in Northeastern California I hit the water at Lake Davis for a couple days. The fish are really starting to make a solid come back here at the lake with limit style fishing and hard charging action. For some reason the Bows at Davis have always had a unique fighting style that include some blistering, "steelhead" type runs and lots of twisting and turning. Couple that with the fact that we fish very small baits with small hooks and that makes them quite a challenge to land. To narrow it down we basically fished between Camp 5 and the island to Jenkinson Point and had all the action we could stand. The fish seemed to be keyed in on the 12 to 15 foot range and were whacking small frog pattered Needlefish and copper/red Dic Nites. One day the Dic Nites were best and the next, the frog stole the show.

Lake Davis Fishing Report May 20, 2013
The spring Bite is on at Lake Davis! Great numbers of healthy Rainbows are whacking trolled lures all over the lake. I have been spending most of the time working the open water north of the big island and finding solid results. The fish have been hitting a combination of spoons from Dic Nites to Needlefish worked from the surface to 18 feet. Most of the fish are running from 16 to 19 inches and are hitting hard and fighting great on the light tackle. Most days we have been seeing 15 to 30 fish on the rods and with the way they fight not all make it to the net, but limits have not been a problem.

2 of the 3 limtis!
